This hot little purse can’t be restocked fast enough.
Brooklyn-based label Telfar’s logo-branded small black bags have once again sold out — this time in mere minutes.
Telfar’s online store restocked the $ 150 purse at noon Thursday and was fresh out almost immediately, fans griped on Twitter. According to one would-be buyer, the bag became unavailable within 60 seconds.
Fans of the “It” item beloved by Gen Z must have good luck and fast Internet to be among the select few to purchase upon a restock, or be down to shell out and buy it from a reseller. The cult favorite “Bushwick Birkin” bags resell for as much as $ 700, a point of controversy among Telfar lovers.
Even shoppers who keep the Telfar homepage open to better position themselves before a restock often come away bagless. Having the bag in your checkout cart, even, is not reassurance of acquisition, Twitter users report.
Previous restocks of the bag have attracted so much traffic, they crashed Telfar’s site, so being crushingly cool is the bag’s enduring appeal.
“My friends who wore [Telfar] are some of the coolest people I’ve ever met. I also used to think that I wasn’t cool enough for the bags,” New York stylist Bryant Simmons recently told Nylon. “More and more, I would see them often pop up on the street and on social media. It was cool to watch because I felt that the bag made a huge statement. To me, it said, ‘I’m cool, and I have a [social] life.’ I think it has become more and more desirable for customers because of that cool factor, the wide range of colors, and the sizes.”
Telfar’s founder, Telfar Clemens, loves the hype over the signature “T” logo bags which debuted in 2014.
“It’s beautiful,” Clemens told Vogue.
